Fathers Day

It's almost Father's Day!  I love Father's Day.  There's something sublimely intimate about the relationship between a father and a child-and taking a day to celebrate that is amazing.

My dad is a huge chocolate fan, and I remember when I was a child growing up, we would sit together at night and eat ice cream together while watching a corny movie or show on TV.  I'd pile my ice cream up with whipped cream, and slowly make ice cream "Soup" out of it, savoring the melted chocolate/whipped cream goodness.

This year, I'm far away from my father, but I'll grab a bowl of ice cream, top it with some spoonfudge, and Skype with him.  :)  If you haven't tried it, Spoonfudge + ice cream is AMAZING, and hopefully later this summer I'll add some in to homemade ice cream.

The Ladies Behind The Wooden Spoons...Spoonfudge! Interview!

Have you ever wanted to meet the ladies behind the Spoonfudge! magic?  The duo that have taken normal, every day, run of the mill fudge, and transformed it into something completely different, completely portable, and completely delicious?  From chocolate chip cheesecake to root beer, Spoonfudge! is delivering new, amazing flavors every 1-2 weeks, so you're always sure to find something that suits your sweet tooth.

Not only does Spoonfudge! offer their product online, but they also have a shop where you can try all sorts of delicious treats featuring your favorite flavor of Spoonfudge!

We've been wanting to get to know the ladies behind the magic, so we were able to get them to take a break from the fudge makin' to give us a little insight into their lives!

So, without further adieu, here are our leading ladies manning their adorable booth at a local fair-and keep reading as we ask the ladies questions everyone wants to know!



First things first: What are your names?

Do you have any funny nicknames? 

Tarah aka Queenie & Aleisa, aka Princess

How old are you? 

Fabulously young thirty something's! :)

Do you have families? Kids? 

Tarah and husband Joe have been married 12 years and have one daughter. Aleisa and her husband Shawn have been married 13 years and have 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. 

What started the idea of purchasing the Spoonfudge! brand?

We were just intrigued by the concept of Spoonfudge! and had so many ideas for ways to build the brand. When we found out the former owner was interested on selling Spoonfudge!, we jumped all over it....head first! 

Everyone knows that owning a business isn't a walk in the park.  What was the most difficult lesson you’ve learned so far in running Spoonfudge? 

Creativity and ideas are the easy part for us. Making them reality are a little different issue......it takes a lot of time away from our families to grow our business the right way. But they have been so supportive and jump in to help whenever we need them to. Same goes for good friends! 

What is the most rewarding aspect of running Spoonfudge!, both the shop and the online store?

 Making memories with our customers. We feel like when a customer chooses to share or send Spoonfudge! as a gift, they're allowing us to be a part of a SWEET memory. That's an honor that we don't take lightly. 

Here's where it gets difficult.  What's your favorite Spoonfudge! flavor? 

Our favorites change constantly! We have over 100 flavors and we are constantly coming up its new ones. But classics are still dear to our hearts....and taste buds. So for Aleisa, definitely Nuttah Buttah Baby our pure peanut butter flavor. She is a total peanut butter addict! Tarah's go to is Pearly Gates, our plain cheesecake flavor. We named it Pearly Gates because that's our vision of Heaven. We think St. Peter will greet us all at The Gates and say "Welcome! There's the cheesecake bar and to your left is the toppings bar." 

What is your favorite part of the Spoonfudge! creation process?

When we acquired Spoonfudge!, we immediately went to work rebranding the logo and changing the over all look. We had this vision in our head of a smiling spoon and we wanted the logo to evoke a feeling of nostalgia... Like an old candy shop or ice cream shop. Then we opened our first retail location where we not only sell and make Spoonfudge!, we also have a cafe. All the cafe items are made with Spoonfudge! as an ingredient in some way. We just thought try to think of new, creative ways customers can enjoy Spoonfudge! at home. It's of course made to be eaten from the jar, but you can also flavor coffees and hot chocolates, or melt and drizzle Spoonfudge! over cakes, pies and pastries. YUMMMMM!!

We sent off samples to a food consulting group and we hope to have some results by the end of this month. That means THIS order window could benefit from the extended shelf life!

We are now offering UPS shipping.

Lastly, (and really, this isn't the *last* update...we're just skipping a whole lot of stuff to keep this post semi-short) for now on we'll no longer include receipts in outgoing orders. Instead, a packing slip that contains no pricing and no invoice-to information will be included. This will help assure gift orders and secret-pal orders are kept appropriate.

Did you know...

that Spoonfudge! is just as or MORE healthy (and less fattening) than other chocolate products out there?

Now, we are by no means the FDA or any of that stuff and they haven't checked into our statements BUT just take a gander at the nutrition labels for yourself!

Check out a few comparisons below:

All comparisons made using publicly available nutritional facts data. All serving sizes have been adjusted to 1 oz. Some figures have been rounded slightly

First up, brownies. This is a  recipe we pulled from a popular recipe sharing site. Spoonfudge! wins in all categories (sometimes by ENORMOUS amounts.) 

 

Next up, Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate.  Spoonfudge! and the Dark Chocolate seem pretty evenly matched. Spoonfudge! does win out in some more important areas but we called this one a draw.

Last on our list, Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate. Spoonfudge! did a little better on this one than the dark chocolate. It still didn't win in all categories but it took the majority.

As you can see, Spoonfudge! fares pretty well when it comes to the "health" aspect of it. By no means are we telling you no more chocolate or brownies. We are just trying to say that Spoonfudge! isn't nearly as unhealthy as it is perceived.

So, feel less guilty the next time you pull out that cute little spoon and dig in.

What's New at Spoonfudge!

With the most recent order out the door, we've received tons of feedback from out customers. Our goal is to completely satisfy all of our clients and with your feedback we hope to do just that.

Some of the things that you all suggested were:

Flavors with Nuts (Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, etc.)

We heard you! These things are all being taken care of. You'll notice that all orders that go out this order window will receive a shipment notification! You'll also notice that any samples included in your boxes will be packaged separately from your actual order. And, for all of you nut fans out there, we are working hard to satisfy your desires! A flavor with almonds is in the works and we are hoping to have a flavor with pecans, walnuts, and other nuts available in the very near future.

Fundraising, Wholesale, and Custom Orders!

Spoonfudge! is delicious; no doubt about it. Coming in over 35 flavors (with new ones added weekly) there is something for everyone! Why not put that awesomeness to your advantage?

Fundraising 
Spoonfudge! loves doing fundraisers! Getting to help out organizations such as schools, daycares, girl scouts, church groups, youth groups, and any other group puts a smile on our face (that partnered with the fact that we've spread the "Spoonfudge!" bug!) If your group is interested in having a Spoonfudge! fundraiser, please contact us! Spoonfudge! is offered in convenient two packs that come complete with spoons which retail at only $11.95-$14.95 (you set the price!) Your percentage is calculated on a tiered basis with a minimum of 40 sets required. The more you sell, the more you earn! Plus, Spoonfudge! offer convenient features such as custom labeling, order separation, etc. Plus, we provide all of the order forms and catalogs. Visit our FUNDRAISING page for more details.

Wholesale
Currently Spoonfudge! is not available for wholesale. Our shelf life is currently only 1-3 months. However, we are working diligently to change this number for the better without adding any harsh preservatives. If you are interested in wholesale Spoonfudge! we suggest you join our MAILING LIST so that you'll be one of the first to know when our wholesale program goes live! When our program does go live, our product will have a shelf life of 3-6 months (conservatively) and will be complete with genuine UPCs (barcodes) for use in larger retail markets. Spoonfudge! carries a minimum $1,000,000 USD product liability insurance and all products are prepared and packaged in a licensed commercial kitchen. We will have very competitive pricing, delivery, and payment options available with a range of minimum order quantities. We will also be offering area exclusivity with certain minimum orders. Custom flavor formulations will be available to our wholesale customers with flavor exclusivity options.

Custom Orders
Spoonfudge! gladly accepts custom orders! Custom orders should consist of at least 10 jars of each requested flavor with a minimum of 30 jars total (only 15 sets.) Custom orders of stock flavors retail at our regular price of $11.95 and the entire order will ship for a flat rate of $10.50! This price also includes some customization of the labels. Custom orders should be placed 4 weeks in advance of the required delivery date.

Spoonfudge! is also more than happy to develop a custom flavor for you! Custom flavor formulations cost $50 and an additional $25 for each revision. Each fee includes the shipment of a jar of the custom flavor direct to your door for sampling and feedback. Custom flavor formulation requests should be submitted at least 8 weeks in advanced of the required delivery date.
